Winter and spring Festivals

Winter festivities : Each winter, mid-december until January, in Vilinius city, there are concerts, showings, fairs and other entertainments. Noël is an important celebration for Lithuanian people, because of the huge number of Christian practitioners in Lituania.
Day of the Lithuanian Flag :
The first of january, Lithuanian people celebrate the 1st rising of their flag on the tower of the Gediminas Castle from 1919 with a solemn ceremony.
The Three Kings Festival (Epiphany) : On January 6th, Vilnius celebrated the Epiphany, the end of the winter holidays. The three Kings pass through the Old Town and wish inhabitants good health and peace.
Lithuanian Independance Day : On 16 February 1918, the Act of Independance of Lithuania proclaimed the end of all state ties and declared the country as an independant state. In the capital and over the country, there are some solemn commemorations, parades and concerts.
St. Casimir's fair weekend : St. Casimir was the guardian of Lithuania for over 400 years. Today, we call this week-end of 1-3 March « Kaziukas fair », when traditional craftsmen present their work to visitors.
Day of Restoration of Lithuanian Independance : The Act of re-establishment of the State of Lithuania was signed on 11 March 1990. On this day, the victims are honoured and there are some parades and concerts.
Kino Pavasaris : During the month of March, International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris offers a chance to see well-known or awarded movies from various film festivals. Some thematic evenings or discussions are organised.
Music Festival Garso Galerija : During the month of April, in Vilnius we can see the largest festival of electronic music in the Baltic States which is called the festival « Jauna Muzika ».
Street Musicians Day : On first Saturday of May, we can see professionals and amateurs musicians playing on the streets, squares and parks of the capital.
Vilnius Festival : At 31 May until 15 June, Vilnius is the place of an international music festival, recognised by the European Association of Festivals, which attracts elite, performers and best bands of Lithuania.
